What's included in our tree removal service

When we take a tree down, we do the whole job — not just the cut. A complete Blue Mountain Grading tree removal includes the felling or sectional take-down, dragging and loading the wood and limbs, hauling the debris off your property, and grinding the stump below grade so you're left with usable, clean ground instead of a hazard and a pile of brush.

Every removal includes:

• The felled tree, gone — trunk, limbs, and tops loaded into our dump truck and hauled off, so you're not stuck with a wall of brush to burn or drag yourself
• Hazardous and technical felling — dead, leaning, storm-damaged, or split trees taken down in a controlled way, with sectional take-downs (piece-by-piece) when a tree is too close to a house, deck, driveway, or the lake to drop in one piece
• Stump grinding below grade — the stump ground 6–10 inches below the surface so it won't sprout, rot into a sinkhole, or wreck a mower blade
• Site cleanup — the ground raked clean, ruts knocked down, and the work area left ready to seed, mulch, or build on

How we take a tree down safely

Tree removal is mostly about what happens before the saw ever touches the trunk. We walk the tree first, read the lean and the rot, plan the fall or the rigging, and clear the landing zone — then we cut. On open ground we fell the tree in one piece toward a planned drop. Near a house, a driveway, power lines, or a lake lot, we take it down in sections so nothing lands where it shouldn't.

A typical removal runs like this:

• 1. Walk and assess — we look at the tree's lean, its health, the rot, the wind, and what's underneath it, then decide between a straight fell and a piece-by-piece take-down
• 2. Clear the zone — we move or protect anything in the fall path and set up the equipment for a clean catch and drag
• 3. Fell or section — open trees come down in one controlled drop; tight spots near structures come down in sections, lowered or dropped into a small landing area
• 4. Drag, load, and haul — the skid steer and mini-excavator drag the trunk and limbs to the truck, and it all leaves with us
• 5. Grind the stump and clean up — we grind the stump below grade, rake the area, and smooth out any ruts the equipment left behind

On the steep, red-clay lots common above Lake Keowee and around Clemson, that equipment matters. A two-man saw crew can drop a tree, but moving the wood up a wet clay grade without tearing up your yard is where the mini-ex and skid steer earn their keep.

The equipment and options we bring

We're a grading and land-management company first, which means tree removal here comes with real iron behind it — not just a truck and a chainsaw. That's what lets us pull a heavy hardwood off a slope, grind the stump deep, and leave the ground graded clean afterward.

• Mini-excavator — for pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy trunks and root balls, and for digging out problem stumps in tight or steep spots
• Skid steer — fast for dragging limbs and tops to the truck and for cleaning up and grading the work area when we're done
• Dump truck — so the wood and brush actually leave your property the same day instead of becoming your problem
• Stump grinder — to take stumps 6–10 inches below grade, well below mower height, so the spot can be seeded over or built on

You've also got options on the debris. We can haul everything off, or — if you're clearing a larger area — run the brush through a forestry mulcher that grinds standing brush and small trees in place into a clean ground mulch, with no hauling and no burn piles. For a single tree, hauling is usually simplest; for a wooded lot, mulching is often faster and cheaper. We'll tell you straight which one fits your job.

Signs it's time to remove a tree

A tree usually tells you before it falls. The clearest signs you should have a tree looked at — and likely removed — are a visible lean toward your house, large dead limbs, a hollow or split trunk, mushrooms growing at the base, or roots that have heaved up out of the ground. Around here, ice storms and saturated red clay take down trees that looked perfectly fine the week before.
